I have a dedicated notebook that I use to keep track of my gardening adventures and tours. It is used to plan out my vegetable garden, keep track of my plants, add pictures, and even deep dive into things I have learned over the season. I have been keeping this journal since my 2020 garden; although I have been gardening for many years before. I just never thought about keeping a record until 2020.
This year, I decided that in addition to my written journal, I would film it. Partly because my parents are getting older and are unable to visit much. So, this is a way I can still show them my raised beds- my Dad always liked seeing what I was growing. In addition to sharing with my parents, filming my vegetable garden will help me from year to year. You see the garden changes so fast from week to week and even day to day. It is hard to keep track. A visual tour of my raised beds can help me in the future.
I figure that if it will help me, it can also help someone else. I am always learning and looking to do better each year. Since I work full-time, you will definitely not find perfection here. However, my garden brings me peace and it is where I have my “Big Think” idea sessions. I look forward to spending time in my garden every night and working through some of my thoughts on work, home and life in general.
